New but Familiar User Interfaces:
The Paris Designer was the first truly WYSIWYG (“what you see is what you get”) document design tool on the market. Paris Version 4 builds on this tradition of innovation by introducing the latest in user interface standards to simplify tasks and become more intuitive and familiar.
Spooler as a Service and Web Access:
The new Paris Version 4 Spooler sees some significant new functionality that allows Paris users to configure and manage the flow of Paris documents with greater security, improved unattended operation and easier access. The Version 4 Spooler may now be optionally run as a Windows service. The Version 4 Spooler also includes a Web Server module that allows remote users to view, manage and administer the Paris system from any web browser.
Layers and Alignment:
Paris Version 4 now supports the concept of “Layers” where objects may be placed under or over (in front of or behind) other objects on the Form. Paris Version 4 now also supports the new “Align” option where multiple selected objects can be aligned to the top, bottom, left or right relative to the first object selected.
New QR Barcode:
Paris Version 4 now includes the necessary field calculation and font set to render optimized QR Barcodes. The QR barcode (short for "quick response") is a 2 dimensional "matrix" barcode developed initially by a subsidiary of Toyota in Japan. It has recently become very popular due to its ability to hold a large amount of data including web URLs and because most modern smart phones now include readers making QR popular among marketers as a way to quickly link consumers with content on the web.
Native PDF:
Paris Version 4 now sees the addition of a native PDF driver allowing the Paris Engines to output optimized PDF directly into the Paris Version 4 EDO system.
